Designer: Possibly Ambrose Schlegel. J. Emma Kinkead said that all “plain” shapes were produced by Ambrose Schlegel.
Description: Rounded, sloping to the bottom, covered in a blue-green glaze. Bottom markings are partially obscured with the glaze; however, upon x-ray, the Double-A, Van Briggle, Design #266C & date of 1904 are revealed.
Dimensions: 5″ Height, 6 1/4″ width
Other: X-Ray indicates a 1904 date. This would have been produced the first year of production for this design. The “C” designation by the design #, indicates that this was the middle size made, with possibly “A & B” larger, and “D & E” smaller. Artus Van Briggle used the same sizing system that had been in use when he was with Rookwood Pottery.
