Design:  #567 (uncatalogued until 2015)

Date Designed:  1907

Designer:  unknown

Description:  Tall vase with large floral design three times around the rim.  Vase is covered in Mountain Crag Brown glaze, advertised by Van Briggle as a glaze containing “the browns and greens found in a mountain crag.”    The bottom has the Double-A, Van Briggle, Colo. Spgs. incised in block lettering on a sandy, gritty clay attributed to the 1920s.

Dimensions:  22″ height, 8″ width at the widest part of the floral design.

Other:  Mountain Crag Brown was mistakenly referred to as Mt. Craig Brown for years, until early literature surfaced.

This was able to be documented as #567 after an early 1907 dated example was offered for sale, with the Design #567 shown.

Collection:  Kathy Honea & Bob Teas
