Sept. 2015 Tour of Van Briggle Memorial Pottery

September 12 was the annual tour of the Van Briggle 1908 Memorial Pottery in Colo. Spgs.  The event is hosted annually by the Women’s Education Society of Colorado College, and serves as a fundraiser toward their scholarship efforts.

More than 400 people toured the beautiful building, covered with over 5000 Van Briggle tile, both inside and out!

Activities for children were available on the lawn of the premises; as well as garden tours of the area.

Bob and I, along with volunteer Gary Conover; were stationed in Anne Van Briggle’s original studio, to discuss the early designs and work of the employees.  Attendees were invited to bring one or two pieces of Van Briggle from their collections if they wished to have an opinion of the age or design number of the piece.

Tours were scheduled from 9:00 a.m. every 30 minutes.  We were the last stop on the tours, and finished our last group just after 5:30 p.m.!!  It was a busy day, but great fun.
