Saturday, September 15, 2012, the Women’s Educational Society of Colorado College will be hosting a tour of the Van Briggle Memorial Pottery located at 1125 Glen Ave. in Colorado Springs.
The building was built by Anne Van Briggle to honor her deceased husband Artus Van Briggle. Dedication was held on December 3, 1908. The building was sold by Van Briggle Pottery to the Colorado College in 1968, and through their efforts has been placed on the National Historic Register.
Tours will be given in small groups as visitors arrive, and are planned from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m.
Interior and exterior of this magnificent building is decorated with hand-made tiles, created by Anne Van Briggle and J. Emma Kinkead. These tours are a rare opportunity to see the building and dream of the environment in which Van Briggle operated over one hundred years ago.
